Travelling gluten-free

So this will be DH's first trip abroad, first trip away from home since he was diagnosed with gluten-free and basically this will be interesting to say the least. Watch this space for updates and pictures!

New GF staples...

It is inevitable that we will discard and replace with better products and keep some so this is what our pantry looks like right now.

Pamela's Baking mix
Pamela's Wheat-free Bread mix
Bob Mills GF All-purpose flour mix
Masa Corn Flour
Rice flour
Tapioca Flour
Sweet Rice flour
Sorghum Flour
Organic Oatmeal (Apprently DH is tolerant of this kind of oatmeal so that is good!)
LaChoy Soy (This was the only wheat-free, msg free Soy we could find thus far)
LaChoy Teriyaki (Again wheat and msg free)
Tinkyada Pasta Sheets
Mrs Leeper's Corn pasta shapes and spaghetti
Basmati Rice
Jasmine Rice
Perky O's
Nutty Rice
Post Fruity Pebbles (Only Post, generics seems to cause problems with possible cross contamination)
Post Coco Pebbles (Same as above)

Missing cupcakes...

I could have sworn I posted this back when I baked them but since I don't see them here they are. Chocolate Cupcakes with Pink frosing and sprinkles.

Affair in Red Square....

No I'm not gallivanting around with a Russian. It's the name of a polish by OPI. I love this color, I am so ready for Summer now!

Back home.

I spent a weekend of wheat and gluten-indulging, girlfriend time in downtown Cincinnati for our regional conference...and boy was it good!

We had lunch on Friday at Chanps in the Hyatt, supper was Balboas and they do a really good Turkey Hoagie! We had a boxed lunch and Starbucks Coffees on Saturday and by the time we left late Saturday afternoon we filled up spiritually, emotionally and physically.

If you ever get the chance to attend a Mary Kay Conference you simply MUST do it. There is nowhere on Earth where so many women can gather and honor god and their sisters.

It's HERE!!

I'm so excited, it's here, it's here! DH put the microwave over the stove and the stove is made to fit in my kitchen...or was it the other way around? I will post pics later after I clean up my kitchen which is in disarray right now (it happens every time DH is in there)

I can't wait to 'christen' it!

Gahhhh!

So I am absent again, but with good reason. Since about Valentines day my trusty stove bit the proverbial dust...I didn't realize at the time as the temp would still reach 350F in the oven but no higher :( It took longer to bake and cook, in fact it was getting very frustrating!

As with most large purchases a lot of research was needed so it took me a whole month AFTER I realized the stove bit it to order the new one.

The new one will arrive Monday afternoon along with it will come a NEW over the range microwave!!!

I can't wait I can smell the beautiful aroma of cooking and baking again! In the meantime, we are getting quite fat on eating out and take out *blush*

GF Staples

I am slowly building up a pantry of 'must have' staples for our pantry. We tried the obligatory loaf of GF bread, asides from it tasting like cardboard we've relegated it to door stop status.

So far here is what I have:-

Pamela's Baking mix
Bob Mills GF All-purpose flour mix
Masa Corn Flour
Organic Oatmeal (Apprently DH is tolerant of this kind of oatmeal so that is good!)
LaChoy Soy (This was the only wheat-free, msg free Soy we could find thus far)
LaChoy Teriyaki (Again wheat and msg free)
Tinkyada Pasta
DeBoles Gluten-free pasta
Basmati Rice
Jasmine Rice
Perky O's Nutty Rice
Post Fruity Pebbles (Only Post, generics seems to cause problems with possible cross contamination)
Post Coco Pebbles (Same as above)

I'm back

I just started (last week) my college course on College Composition. Thankfully it will help me 'blog' better so here goes. I will try to journal our meals especially since now we are GF (Gluten Free) This is making baking and cooking more difficult than you can imagine.

So here we go Take 2 the GF version!
